INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BIOTECHNOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT 2019

The International Conference on Biotechnology and Environment 2019 (Theme: Toward Ecosystem Health and Sustainability) organized on July 17, 2019 in Nha Trang by the Institute of Biotechnology and Environment, Nha Trang University within the framework of NFS-USAID funded PEER 6-435 project “Riverscape Genetics to Inform Natural History of Exploited Fishes in the Lower Mekong River Basin". 

The purpose of the conference is to review and introduce new achievements in research and application of biotechnology, and the environment, outreach activities toward Ecosystem Health and Sustainability, and to exchange information and develop partnerships between universities, research institutions and commercial companies.

There are more than 70 scientists and students from the United States (Smithsonian Institute and Old Dominion University) and Mekong countries (Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam) to attend. On the Vietnamese side, attend the conference were scientists from Can Tho University, Institute of Oceanography, Vietnam-Russia Tropical Center, Research Institute of Aquaculture 3, Yen Sao One Member Limited Company Khanh Hoa, Institute of Vaccine and Medical Biologicals, and representatives of the Directorate of Fisheries. The workshop has 37 scientific reports, including 12 oral reports.

The conference was successful and received much attention from the Directorate of Fisheries and regional scientists on the diversity of resources and existing challenges in the Mekong basin.
