1ST ANNOUNCEMENT
Objective:
The International Conference on Conservation Genetics in Mekong River Basin aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers, policy makers, and government officers from the US and Mekong River Basin (MRB) countries to exchange and share their experiences and study of conservation genetics research in the MRB. It also provides a premier interdisciplinary forum for researchers, managers, and practitioners to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, concerns, and practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted in the fields of biodiversity conservation and resource management in the MRB.
The areas of expertise to be covered by the conference are:
- Applied genetics in natural resource management and biodiversity conservation,
- Climate change and adaptation,
- Ecology and risks to resources and biodiversity, and
- Fisheries management.
Forms of participation:
- Exhibits: Units for individuals and companies to introduce products, technologies and new achievements;
- Poster presentations: for presenting research results;
- Oral presentations: including invited overview of achievements, new directions and selected presentations of outstanding research;
- Conference attendance: for the remaining delegates;
- Round table meeting: US partner universities (ODU, TAMUCC), officials of relevant ministries (Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Science and Technology) in Vietnam, officials and leaders from local MD Provinces, Mekong River Commission, and partners from Lao, Cambodia, Thailand and Myanmar will be invited;
- Fieldtrip: including visiting the research Institute, local markets.
Language: English (Vietnamese only for the authority with short summaries)
The participation fee:
- Conference fee: All participants: 50 USD, student fee: 25 USD
