In the framework of cooperation of PEER project, team members of Biodiversity and Conservation participation in training courses "Applied bioinformatics in study of genetic diversity and conservation" at the University of De La Salle, Manila, Philippines. Participate in teaching is professionals in molecular genetics from Old Dominion University, the University of Texas and University of Washington, USA. The young scientists from Thailand (Songkla University), Vietnam (Nha Trang University), and Philippines (De La Salle University, University of Siliman) attended the training.
The training took place on 06/06/2014 and end on 06/15/2014. At the training, group members presentations on current researchr, and the contribution to the PEER project lead by Dr. Dang Thuy Binh. At the same time, the training also addresses new directions in the application of genetic diversity and conservation, and provides technical skill in next generation sequencing and bioinformatics.
Group has practiced bioinformatics using sofware Bioperl to read FASTQ file to run in internal applications. The specialized software such as TRIM GALORE, RAINBOW, BWA, VARSCAN2 be used to filter, remove the adapter, align, detect SNPs ..... With the guidance of dedicated and enthusiastic scientists leading , the team acquired a lot of knowledge useful for future research.
