In the framework of cooperation in the PEER project between Old Dominion University, USA and Institute of Biotechnology and Environment - University of Nha Trang, Prof. Kent E. Carpenter sent Ellen Biasact for the ezRad technical training at Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Institute of Biotechnology and Environment.
In 2 weeks time (from 20/4 - 05/04/2014), Ellen hasl trained staff, graduate students ezRAD technique. This is a method of New Generation Sequencing developed at the University of Texas, USA. Along with Ellen, staff and students have tested the DNA extraction method to obtain genomic DNA with best quality and Illumina kit used to collect genomic library in population genetics research.
This is new molecular mehod require technical skill, recently widely applied in population genetics. That why, this technique has been applied in curent research of fish population genetics in Mekong Delta. The training has brought great benefits for the team and Biodiversity Conservation.
