Reproductive biology of the cone snaill Conus striatus Lnnaeus, 1758) from Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam

 

Cone snail Conus striatus Linnaeus, 1758 is a molluscs eating small fish by using toxins. The gonad samples of C. striatus collected in Khanh Hoa from 1/2013 to 12/2013 to be used for histological studies. Gonads were divided into 5 phases, the gonads have dark brown, while male gonads opaque white. The breeding season of C. striatus in natural from February to June every year. Size at first maturation is 69.83, maturation rate is 66.76 %. Actual fecundity of C. striatus ranged between 40-90 (mean 55 ) egg capsule,  each containing 50-215 eggs (average 160 eggs)/spawns. Absolute fecundity ranged from 8.570 to 150.00 eggs/individual, average 83 571 ± 31 173 eggs/ individual.
